Cape double take

We like the simplicity of the ubiquitous “Cape”, but love them or hate them, they are about as New England as friend clams and lobster. For those that own them often the struggle is how to work with them. Tight quarters and limited natural light make these homes a challenge. So encountering this little gem we immediately loved its intimacy and clear circulation but questioned how to expand it without compromise as happens all too often. Our take, we stayed away from the tack it on approach and extended the roofline to increase the size by 30%, made the second floor usable and brought in light to make the spaces inviting and as they say…the rest is just history.
