Tired of your old kitchen or rotting deck? …well you are not alone according to the US Census Bureau. Nearly 10 million homes will embark on a kitchen project this year or about 4.14% of all households. If that sounds high it’s a distant second to the most popular of home projects, the bathroom re-do. Renovating this beloved space tips the scales at a whopping 15.5 million homes…that a lot of toilets! Other popular projects weighing in are the outdoor deck with slightly over 5 million completed last year. I guess that might account for some of the 12-13 million grilles sold each year!
Thinking of beating the summer heat with a pool? Well you would be in the minority with around 675,000 people making a call to the pool guy. That said, since the average home lot is roughly 100’x140’ or 14,680 SF and the average house size in 2010 being 2,392 SF there might just be room to build one. That is of course assuming you live in a temperate climate like San Diego whose average daily temperature is 70.5 degrees with 146 sunny days a year…but what is in a statistic anyhow!
